Located directly opposite the Katoomba railway station, The Velvet Fog is a cult-status Aladdin's cave for music lovers. This independent record bar has spent over 25 years as the heart of the mountains' vinyl scene, specialising in high-quality secondhand records, rare 45s, and vintage hi-fi equipment.

Beyond the crates of jazz, psych, and rock, it serves as a gathering place where owner Paul Tatz - a local encyclopedia of music - shares his wealth of knowledge. With its organised wooden racks and frequent in-store live performances, it perfectly captures the authentic, bohemian spirit of Katoomba.
