Govetts Leap
270 Govetts Leap Road, Blackheath
Perched on the edge of the Grose Valley near Blackheath, Govetts Leap Lookout is one of the most spectacular vantage points in the Blue Mountains.
Named after William Romaine Govett, a surveyor who first came across this spot in 1831, the lookout offers a panoramic view that makes the human scale feel delightfully insignificant.
The main attraction is the Bridal Veil water fall, which drops roughly 180 meters down the sandstone cliffs. On a windy day, the water often sprays into a fine mist before reaching the bottom, creating a ghostly, shimmering effect against the dark rock.
Beyond the falls, the valley floor stretches out in a sea of eucalyptus trees, framed by the towering, sheer rugged cliffs.
While in the area, check out the nearby Evans Lookout.
