Empress Falls
92 Fletcher Street, Wentworth Falls
Tucked within the lush Valley of the Waters, Empress Falls is a 30-metre tiered waterfall, and is one of the most photographed spots in the Blue Mountains. The descent from the Conservation Hut is short but incredibly steep, taking you through a transition from dry eucalypt forest to a cool, prehistoric rainforest.
Standing on the stepping stones at the bottom, surrounded by towering ferns and moss-covered rock walls, you’ll feel miles away from the modern world.
The falls are a hub for adventure, and you may see abseilers navigating the Empress Canyon. Beyond the imposing Empress Falls, are Sylvia Falls, Lodore Falls and a spectacular Tree Fern Rainforest.
When you are ready to leave the waterfalls, be prepared for the rigorous climb out of the valley of waters and back up to the car park.
Distance: 1.4km
Time: 1 hour
