Perched on the edge of the Valley of the Waters, the Conservation Hut pairs environmental history with mountain hospitality. Originally established in 1963 as a meeting place for local conservationists, the ‘Hut’ was rebuilt in the early 90s into the striking, mud-brick structure it is today. With its high timber ceilings and a sweeping deck that offers uninterrupted views of the Jamison Valley and the majestic Mt. Solitary.
The cafe offers an all-day breakfast menu, as well as a selection of reliable lunch options, from the Lobster and Prawn Roll to the Mt Solitary Burger.
The location is the starting point for some of the region's most iconic trails, including the steep descent to Empress Falls and the breathtaking Short Cut Track. Whether you’re warming up by the log fire in winter or sipping a cocktail while taking in the stunning views, you’re guaranteed a memorable experience.
